As summer approaches, the temperatures rise and the days get longer. I try to spend more time outside and less time cooking. Recently, I been browsing for easy, healthy alternatives to long evenings in the kitchen. Summer salads are a terrific solution, they are fast, lean and full of fresh veggies .
Below are six salad options that I cannot wait to try this summer…
1. Heirloom Tomato Salad via Skinny Taste
2. Mediterranean Chicken Kebab Salad via Skinny Taste
3. Grilled Peach Summer Salad via Mango & Tomato
4. Creamy Avocado Chicken Salad via Sadie + Stella
5. Mediterranean Quinoa Salad via Small Kitchen College
6. Summer Veggie Salad with Goat Cheese via Proud Italian Cook
What is your favorite summer time recipe?

Good morning. I hope you had a terrific holiday weekend. I apologize for the lack of posts. I decided to step away from the blog for a couple of extra days this week. Remember last week, I shared a sneak peak of the kitchen color?
Well, I love it so much that over the weekend I decided my bathroom needed to be painted black as well. Today, I have a few progress photos of the kitchen and bathroom to share. I still have a lot of work to do in both rooms, but the color makes all of the difference in the world. Both rooms feel much cozier. I am so happy to be rid of the yellow cream color!
Let’s start in the kitchen, shall we?

Now that the painting is complete, I am on the hunt for a new rug, an island for the center of the kitchen and a new lighting fixture to replace the ceiling fan…a work in progress, as always.
As much as I love the kitchen, I think I am even more crazy over the color change in the bathroom. It really modernized the space. I have big plans for updates in this room as well…
For now, here are a few photos of the changes made over the weekend.

A few updates that I am planning for the bathroom include; new shower curtains (possibly a DIY project will be involved), a new rug, mirror and wall sconces. I also think I will skirt the vanity to help conceal the oak.
What are your thoughts for each space? Do you have any design ideas to help me make my rental home?

BAM! for Canopy Beds This week, let’s discuss polka dots in interiors. As many of you know, I love stripes! In my opinion, stripes one of my favorite ways to add a graphic punch to a space. They are neutral enough to pair with more dominant patterns and colors and graphic enough to stand alone. [...]

Image via Indulgy I would like to wish a Happy Father’s day to all of the father’s out there this weekend, especially mine! I feel so blessed that I am so close to my dad. One of the main reason’s I fell in love interior design, old houses and do-it yourself projects is because of [...]

I love a good hummus recipe. Two of my favorite recipes include; Kalamata Olive Hummus, and Spicy Black Bean hummus. Recently, while searching pinterest I found a recipe for Avocado hummus…I think I may have to try that next time. This week, I was craving hummus and did not have any tahini. I remembered a [...]

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 With summer in full swing, I am being drawn towards light and bright interiors with touches of navy and white accessories. This month on Houzz I posted a coastal inspired ideabook and thought I would share a few of the key inspiration pieces for a seaside escape with you today. When it comes to [...]
