Typically, I am drawn towards neutral interiors, but today I was inspired by the beautiful mix of the fresh bold color in the paint image above.  When I started pinning images for today’s post I was blown away with how many bright colorful images I found that I loved.

Today, I am in Charleston most of the day working with my client.  Window treatments are being installed!  I can’t wait to see how they turn out.  The project is coming along beautifully.  We are in the process of finalizing the details.  I will try to post updated pictures soon.

Happy Humpday!

Tell Me Tuesday…BAM or SLAM!? Dots, Dots, Dots

BAM! for Canopy Beds

This week, let’s discuss polka dots in interiors. As many of you know, I love stripes!  In my opinion, stripes one of my favorite ways to add a graphic punch to a space.  They are neutral enough to pair with more dominant patterns and colors and graphic enough to stand alone.

Polka dots work in much the same way.  They are graphic, yet neutral.  You can play them up to make a bold statement, or they can rest quietly in the background of your design.  Dots can be sophisticated, add a child-like element or a touch of whimsy…

Polka Dots, Are you a fan!?

Happy Weekend…and a Happy Father’s Day to my Dad!

I would like to wish a Happy Father’s day to all of the father’s out there this weekend, especially mine!  I feel so blessed that I am so close to my dad.

One of the main reason’s I fell in love interior design, old houses and do-it yourself projects is because of my dad.  Growing up, he and I would spend hours in the car driving through old neighborhoods talking about architecture and how we would love to bring an old property that we saw back to life.  To this day we still walk around town talking about saving this property or that.

When I am stumped on a project I always call dad knowing he will have a solution.  Below are a few projects that he has helped with or advised on over the past couple of years on The Mustard Ceiling…

Charleston Apartment-  (this little apartment was barely liveable before we tackled it)

My Bedroom in Progress (he painted and hung the drapery rods while I was out of town one day)

We agree on a lot where design is concerned, but we don’t always see eye to eye.  Dad is not a fan of gray or black (two of my favorites), recently he could not understand why I painted my kitchen and bathroom black.  He’s a little more traditional, I tend to go a little more transitional in design, but it is always fun to have his opinion.

This weekend, both of my brothers are driving into town to celebrate Father’s Day weekend.  I am excited to have everyone in for the weekend to celebrate.  What are your plans?

Have a lovely weekend!
