BAM! for Grosgrain Detailing on Upholstery
Late last week, I was flipping through channels and came across a segment on design trends on the Today show. One of the trends they mentioned for 2013 was NEON in the home. I must admit, I was skeptical at first, but on the show they shared a fun burlap pillow with neon trim and I think I liked it…However, most of you know, I’m a neutral girl at heart. What are your thoughts on Neon in the home?

definite slam for me. i don’t like it at all…. maybe it brings back memories of the late 80′s too much.

So glad you brought this one up – SLAM. I can’t take any more of it – ha! I think I’m with Cassie it brings back too many bad outfit choices from the 80s. I had many neon Umbro shorts

My first reaction was “totally slam” but then I saw the images and they are a total “Bam”! Funny have you have preconceived ideas on something until you get a visual. I think you have to preface this trend with “subtle pops of neon” otherwise, it could go wrong really fast!!! M.

Like everything…..in moderation! Sometimes I can go for it in the right room….so a small bam for me:)
Im with Sherry –in moderation and in those examples above it works but personally for me its a slam. I did however buy 1 article of neon clothing a few months back- and Ive only been brave to wear it once.
I would give it a bam for maybe a kids room or if you lived somewhere like Miami but a slam for m personally. That neon yellow hurts my eyes.
A Bam for me- but in small doses, or easy to change areas (like the painted door you show), or a Pillow. I actually prefer it on my yoga top to a rug (which can be expensive to change out). Great question Liz.
A slam for me, I with Holly and Cassie, reminds me of my neon running shorts I had in the 80′s.
Ick! slam for me! Just think how fast you would get sick of it…maybe because it glows in the dark!
Fun for a Spring/Summer accessory, but not for anything permanent or the base for a room.

Okay–SO–I love the hot pink chairs–that whole set up is absolutely gorgeous….BUT- I gotta give neons a slam. Just not a fan.

I think slam unless it’s in artwork. Bright paintings I love, neon sofas, not so much.

Funny, I have that photo of the hot pink chairs under the gallery wall on a Pinterest board, but I am not a fan of neon. Reminds me of jelly shoes, splatter painted clothes, Dippity Do hair gel and Aqua Net hair spray…..80s all the way! Just can’t get past that!
I think I’m probably the only one who thinks it’s a bam! All the neon colors are so in right now- clothes, nail polish, home decor. I was born in the late 80s, so I missed out on the whole neon theme back then. But it’s coming back now so this time I get to enjoy it.

Absolute slam,
SLAM – even though I like it in the images you have here, I just don’t like it myself and wouldn’t even remotely consider putting it in my house anywhere. Not even in my garage. Not with a fox, not in a box….

Oooooh. Okay, I admit a few pictures/examples looked interesting–but for MOI, this is still a nO.
Sorry~a big ole sLAMmo here.

I think it’s neat when done small and RIGHT, but it’s a slam for me.

SLAM! That is not what I’m going to want to be looking at 3 years from now.
A big slam !
I would say bam if done tastefully and only in small doses! And JUST in home decor… clothing would be a SLAM!

Slam, in the proper environment…urban or seaside. Seems to look more modern, not country or rustic.

SLAM! Neon hurts my eyes, though I will say I surprised myself by not hating the yellow pillows on the turquoise couch.
I’m not surprised that it’s a thing in decor since it has made a comeback in fashion! I think I’d get tired of it, but it’s probably okay in small things that I wouldn’t mind redoing in a few years when I’m over it.
Gotta go SLAM.
