BAM or SLAM!?
[...] Last week’s topic, lacquered walls, was the first SLAM we have had for a long time. Many of you felt they were not practical in a “real life” design situation. To catch up on last week’s comments, click here. [...]

BAM! for Bubble Lighting This week, I want to mix things up a little bit. I love color, but when it comes to paint I typically stick with neutrals on the wall, bringing in color through art and accessories. Earlier this week, I was reading through the March’s issue of House Beautiful on color and [...]

I hope you had a terrific weekend. I spent a portion of my weekend working on the kitchen. I finally broke down and painted! Originally, I had planned to paint the room a dark charcoal. Hoping for a deep, matte charcoal, I chose Knight’s Armor by Olympic as the final color. However, part way through [...]

My Parents Front Porch in Full Bloom Thank you for your input on the kitchen color Wednesday, you talked me into it… This weekend, I am going to jump in and paint the kitchen deep charcoal. The color I chose is one that I picked up when I first moved into my apartment in Charleston. [...]

Last weekend, I spent a little bit of time contemplating my next project. I think I have finally decided it will be the kitchen… I am getting the itch to paint again and my cream, over-sized, sterile kitchen is starting to get the best of me. The rental kitchen is large and very open. It [...]
Slam!! I think they’re horrible. Most of these photograph fine for these magazines, but I don’t think they’re livable at all.
Slam for me! I am just imagining all the greasy fingerprints……… not practical.
Slam for me too, I think they look really cool shiny and sleek, but it’s so permanent feeling. I couldn’t imagine getting tired of the colour or look and then have to sand that all down and repaint it.

BamBamBam!!! Love them! Especially ceilings, and small foyers, and powder rooms. Not large spaces but the smaller intimate ones. So surprising- and shiny!

Slam. Don’t like shiny walls and shows every imperfection.
For me– they are a BAM!
They aren’t right for just ANY situation, but when they’re right–THEY’RE RIGHT!
However– they’re also a whole lotta work to achieve!

I am going to go with both Bam & Slam . Love all the color but would never be that brave.
SLAM for me — there is definitely a “cool” factor, but they just don’t appeal to me.
Good one, Elizabeth!

BAM! I’ve always loved seeing the lacquered walls in magazines and would love to try it one day. Just like Cheryl said, I think it’s best in small spaces!
Fine for someone else, not for me, so I guess that makes a SLAM. First thought was like Ashley’s: FINGERPRINTS, and I think it requires a fairly formal decor which I do not pursue.

I’m going to have to slam as well. I know a lot of work goes into getting those walls very glossy but it’s too glossy for me.

Slam!
SLAM for me – they show every imperfection and to me, they draw way too much attention away from the rest of the room – it’s the only thing I look at. I think they would only work in a really glam space, not a normal home.

Slam! I don’t think I could handle that much reflective surface space every day…

Hadn’t seen this design trend before. Eek! I hate it! SLAM.
Bam for me. I think they are great for focal spots like a powder room, guest closet, entryway and I love it on the ceiling in a dining room.
