A Touch of Green for the Holidays…and Giveaway Winner

I hope you had a lovely weekend.  Mine was nice and relaxing.  I caught up on a little bit of work and gathered some items to start my holiday decorating this week!

As I mentioned in Friday’s post, this year I am going to have to get creative with my Christmas tree.  I have enjoyed a large tree of my very own for many  years.  I started the tradition of picking out a 5′ real tree the day after Thanksgiving when I was 13.   I would lug it home and set-it up in my bedroom.  I then went to work twisting the lights onto each branch, adding the ornaments and  finally put it on a timer.  Every night fall I would fall asleep to the twinkling lights of Christmas.

This will be the first year I have not had room for a tree at least 5′, but I am kind of excited about starting a new tradition.  For those of you decorating a small space this year or those of you who just want to add a touch of green throughout, here are a few inspirations for you to get you inspired about decorating with small trees…

When I first realized I would not have room for a Christmas tree I was a little bummed, but after so many beautiful inspirations I am up to challenge and really excited.

If you are planning to put up your tree this week, check out my tutorial on stringing lights.

Congratulations to Debbie W, winner of last week’s The Enchanted Fig Tree giveaway!

There’s something to be said about little. I’m sure whatever you end up with/doing will be uniquely yours and fantastic!

boy I feel your small space pain (along with my small budget) but it is fun to come up with creative ideas. I re-used my Thanksgiving decos to create a Christmas wreath that you can check out on my blog. Merry Christmas to you during this year of change.

Our home is very modest so I don’t have a lot of room for stuff around the holidays. Adding the tree, our stockings, and a few decorations here and there and that’s about it. I don’t want to overload the space. I also like to have fresh greens/flowers too and that always adds a nice touch.

Love your collage of small space ideas Elizabeth! I actually wanted a small Charlie Brown kind of tree this year, but my kids simply would not hear of it…I would love a little potted tree that I could plant in the back yard in the spring….oh well…
