Tell Me Tuesday…BAM or SLAM!?

BAM for skirted sinks!

Overall, the majority said you love the look. I too think it is a terrific and inexpensive way to add a little interest to a sink and a great way to hide away your “dirty little secrets.”  However, many of you brought up a good point (one that I had not thought of)…germs and dirt.  I agree that maybe it is not the most practical solution for under the sink….but overall it was a BAM for style!

Have you seen Carolina Herrera Baez’s apartment in the October issue of Elle Decor?  What I thought was interesting was the nail head trim detail she used to add a touch of the unexpected to her Madrid apartment.  I have seen this idea before on Pinterest.  At the time I pinned it in my DIY file, and thought…what a unique idea?

Are you a fan!?

I recently found these examples on Pinterest. The first, a room designed by Womack Interiors…

and the second on Kara’s Kottage. Kara lined her walls with burlap and lined them with nail head trim.

  1. I haven’t seen this before—but I love the little detailing. Definitely a BAM for me! :)

  2. I’m going to go with SLAM (for the first time!) because I just generally don’t enjoy fabric on walls, and that’s the only way I see the nail head trim working… fabric on walls = germy gross mess, to me at least!

  3. i am with amy…. i am slamming…. i hate even saying it. but i don’t like it- i don’t like fabric on walls either- just think of all the dirt and fur that can just get stuck there and dust mites…. eeeeeew.

  4. I like it, but I’m not crazy about it. So it’s a slam for me.

  5. Hi Elizabeth, glad to be back for this fun post series. I would go with bam but only if the trim is not in contrast (like in the last 2 pics). Somehow, I am not liking the contrast nailhead trim.

  6. Funny, I’m also slamming for the first time. I think it is just a little too fussy for the walls and too much for the eye to take in. I like it on a piece of furniture, but somehow it doesn’t appeal to me on the walls.

  7. Ehhhh…it’s a creative idea, but I’m going with Slam. I love it on my couch…just probably not on my wall. xo

  8. I give the burlap and nailhead trim a bam. It’s more subtle that the other walls and I love me some burlap! I don’t think it would work though, if you have kids. They are messy little critters and I’m always amazed because I’ve had to tell my kids, “get your feet off the walls!” How would you clean that off of fabric?

  9. It’s interesting and creative but it’s a slam for me. I think I would get sick of it really fast.

  10. SLAM! Looks “tacky”.

  11. I give it a slam too.. Looks too contrived to me. I think in a small powder room with upholstered walls {I love fabric on the walls but only in a very small powder room}, I can see it. Anything other than that I just don’t think I would like it. I do love the modern nail head on furniture and cabinets especially on white cabinets with the shiny gold or silver nail head. Thanks Elizabeth for the discussion!

  13. This is a BAM for me, but only in select spaces. Could be too much of a good thing, but in the right amounts is a really cool feature. :)

  16. I love it, Bam for me. I saw it on Pinterest last week and started trying to think of a way to work in into my living room

  17. I haven’t seen it used very often–but I absolutely LUV it!

  18. It looks a little unfinished to me, so its a slam. I could see it looking cute on furniture and gifts and stuff but not on walls. Although…now that I think of it, that tactic may solve my problem of my wallpaper coming up where people rub up against it as turn the corner. May need to just tack it now.

  19. It’s a SLAM for me – it only works with fabric walls and I’m not a huge fan of unwashable walls.

  20. hmmm, I might have to say slam for me. I love nailhead trim on furniture, but not so sure I’d love it on my walls.
