Today, I would like to send a big Thank you to Holly from West Pear Interiors blog for stepping in to guest host BAM or SLAM for me this week. Thank you Holly, I can’t wait to find out how the readers weigh in on twin beds. I am definitely a FAN…
This is so fun to be able to help Elizabeth out this week for Bam or Slam.
So let’s get to it friends…I was reviewing my Pins the other day and I noticed something interesting that I’ve been seeing a lot more of lately and I’m sure you have as well. Not only are we seeing twin beds being used in children’s rooms but I’m seeing many more guest rooms shown with twin beds.
There is certainly a rich symmetry to the look that is quite pleasing to the eye. And of course, 2 pretty beds are better than one, but what are your thoughts on this look as far as functionality is concerned for the home?

BAM!
this one is a slam for me…. while i love the look,, for my own house a full or queen is more appropriate. but like i said, i love the look, so my son has two twin beds in his room!

I am going with BAM.
My favorite is using a similar pillow in a different color on the beds….cute idea.
Bam! My husband just made two twin beds for our daughters! Matching upholstered headboards..and white duvets make a fantastic room! So twin beds get a big fat Bam! In our book.
BAM! If my guests knew how happy those fabulous looks would make me I doubt they’d mind being inconvenienced for a few nights! Fun surprise to find you here for one of my favorite series, Holly!

YAY:) So excited you did a BAM/SLAM post on this since I just did a total BAM one over on my blog the other day about twin beds. I got some antique beds off Craigslist for my soon-to-be sons’ room and I’m so pumped about them. Can’t wait to get started on their room. Check them out–they’re pretty much exactly what I was looking for:) So yeah, BAM for me!

Bam for me too! I love the symmetry.

I like the idea of twin beds. It gives the impression that the room has more space and there is always the option to pull the beds together if so required. Defintely a Bam!

I think Bam for your children’s room but SLAM for a guest room. We have twin beds like these at my lake house and although it looks really pretty it’s not very comfortable. xox

Definitely a BAM! Love the symmetry! It is also perfect when you have a number of house guest who are not couples! We put ours together if need be….
While it looks gorgeous with two twin beds, it’s definitely a SLAM for me in a guest room. I’d be a little bummed if my hubby and I had to sleep in two separate beds (we like to cuddle when we sleep!) BUT for childrens’ rooms I think it’s a BAM! I’d definitley do this for the kiddos.

I love this look, so BAM for appearance’s sake. But, for practicality in a guest room, I’m not sure. I think it’s great for kid’s rooms (much better than a bunk bed!) and sleepovers, but not as great for adult guests.

Bam for kids room, and slam for guest room.

This is a BAM! for the look and symmetry…but a SLAM! for guest room use. Not only might it bother guests who like to snuggle…my guest room doubles as my office and separate beds would take up too much space.

Totally BAM for me! We did this in a guest room which made it too practical – my niece and nephew were both able to share the room because they had separate beds. And what adult wouldn’t want the extra space than a queen-sized? If they’re diehard snugglers, a twin is even extra cozy.

BAM. Love this look. Ditched my daughter’s double bed just so I could do symmetrical twin beds in her room. LOVE>

Great post, Holly!! Total BAM for me! I just made our “king” in our guest room back into the twins they were originally and I love it. As far as functionality goes, it actually can be MORE functional to have two beds rather than one. You may have two friends or cousins or two guests that just don’t want to share a bed.

BAM…Agreeing on all the posts that “it is so much more functional for a variety of guests”. NEXT guest room will get the treatment…I have kids coming with kids to spend the night…would work better for me to have twins than my present queen. The couples that come will find they had a better night sleep…”sorry dear ones…you can do it, you can sleep without each other for a couple nights”. I wish I had twins in my hawaii vacation rentals as well instead of queens for the singles traveling together.
Bam for me…adore twin bedrooms and the second image is one of my favorites!!

Bam, ma’am! I really like to keep ONE guest bedroom fitted with twin beds,
BECAUSE—1) for the times I’ve had visitors that are NOT a couple, but I need
them to share the room–you know they don’t want to sleep together! 2) When
a family with kids.
It really is easy enough to push the beds together when needed for a couple!
So, bam-bam-bam!

Bam! My girls will have matching twin beds (from my room growing up) and they are so excited to share a room! Love the look!

I’m going to have to go with SLAM for this one. While I love the look and the symmetry, I just don’t see it being practical. Think about the times you have a set of two guests staying over: They either are A) married or in a relationship and prefer to sleep in the same bed or B) are just friends or acquaintances (same or opposite sex) would probably feel really uncomfortable sharing the same space and sleeping right next to each other. I think twin beds in a guest room only work if you’ve downsized and have two kids coming home for summer/holiday break.
BAM! I think this is a classic traditional look for a guest room and you can’t go wrong. It’s practical too because if the couple are married, not the end of the world to sleep in separate beds for a night or two, and if they are acquaintances, friends, or parent and child, then they don’t have to share a double.
Bam! Don’t want to sleep in a twin but love the way they look:)

I love the idea, I think its a total BAM for me!
Bam! And what a way to re-purpose twin beds when your kids get bigger by using them in the guest room too!
