When I purchased my first home in 2006, before Alfred and before blogs, my mom and I built an upholstered headboard for my new bedroom. Overall, the design is simple, but the project was a success. To this day Alfred and I use it in our guest room.
In our next home, I would like to use an upholstered headboard…but this time I would like build another one adding a little more style to the design.
Here are a few of my favorite tutorials for upholstered headboards, click the link below the round-up to visit the tutorial.

I’d love to have an upholstered headboard in our master bedroom. We spend so much time in there at night and John frequently works on the computer sitting up in bed. It would be awesome the lean up against it. Great selection of headboard options!

the recent one on Young House Love is great for us– we don’t want to get rid of our bed, but I do want to sort of “retro-fit” an upholstered part over the current headboard. they basically just made a 3-sided box, padded it, upholstered it, and slipped it over their existing bed!

What a great round-up of tutorials! Dont you just die over the Hunted Interiors headboard? She is one of my new favorites!! I recently made nail head trim headboards for my boys room using artist canvas!! It was soooo easy!
I love the look but have never attempted this… however!! I have a guest room makeover on the horizon (distant) and I would love to do this using my son’s old twin beds. Thanks for the inspiration, Elizabeth!

We too made a headboard many moons ago, before blogs and tutorials entered my world! I redid it using nailhead trim but I didn’t do a great job getting the nails perfectly straight, so I took it apart to do over (story of my life!) Thanks for sharing this roundup of headboard styles…..It lights my fire about getting mine refinished!

That’s one I haven’t yet tried myself. I’m thinking I might try it for my daughter’s room. She wants a comfy place to rest her head while she’s reading (or texting) haha!
