I had a BIG surprise waiting for me when I got home from WV yesterday! So big and exciting that I had to move BAM or SLAM to Thursday this week to share it with you…
BEFORE
AFTER
Alfred decided to do a little design work of his own, while I was out of town. I can’t believe how much better the kitchen looks with the wall removed.
I knew nothing about this project, but I came home and I LOVE it! We still have a lot of work to do, but the kitchen is definitely on it’s way. We’re going to start the subway tile backsplash today…wish us luck, we’ve never tiled before.
PS: I apologize for the awful After photo, but my laptop power chord died on me last night. I am without a functioning laptop for a few days until my new one arrives in the mail. I will do the best I can to blog on Alfred’s laptop (but I not very good with MAC’s) or my ipad…things may be a little shaky around here the next few days.

This looks amazing! What a nice surprise! totally opens up the room. And you get to keep the stove!
it looks so much better! I love seeing the progress!
Wow! It looks great. Bet you wish you had jumped on that idea the second it entered your brain so you could have enjoyed it longer! Oh, well…the future owner thanks you.
Wow! That is going to look amazing! Don’t stress the subway tile job. I just did it myself in our kitchen over Christmas (I have pics on the blog) and it was relatively easy. I actually enjoyed and the subway tile looks amazing. You’ll be so happy when you are done.
Wow wow wow!! Go Alfred!!! What a difference – you must love it! You must just stand there and admire it. That’s what I did when our wall got hacked – best thing we ever did. And I’m sure you’ll agree about what your hubby did – it’s awesome. Enjoy and I can’t wait to see more updates!
that is an awesome surprise!
Wow that makes a huge difference. Good luck with the subway tile. We are hoping to do that here soon. We took a free class from Home Depot and I couldn’t believe how easy the tiling was when we practiced at the class. Can’t wait to see the finished product!
That’s great! It looks so much bigger and brighter! Can’t wait to see the subway tile. Good luck!
I love a husband who takes charge!!! Sometimes when I am waffling on a project all it takes is one look to get the “yay or nay” to move forward. This looks awesome, good job Alfred!
Cathy
Get out!! You’re a very lucky lady!!
Elizabeth–what a wonderful surprise! (way to go Alfred!). I love subway tile. Always a classic. The new “view” must be much appreciated. It looks great!
Wonderful! It looks like a whole new space!
It looks great, Elizabeth! Good man you’ve got there.
Perfect – what a wonderful addition (or is it subtraction?) Kudos to the hubby!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
What a great surprise! Opening up that wall makes such a huge difference…looking forward to seeing your final touches on the projectl
Have a great day!
That is such a nice surprise and opens up the space beautifully for what will be overall more functional than what you had before. Unfortunately we are all so dependent on technology and there is no way around it.
Ohhhhh….the possibilities are endless. How awesome!
Oh Elizabeth, this looks incredible! Good for you, what a GEM of a hubby you have there.
What a nice surprise! You should apparently go away more often.
Aahh! What a great surprise! Holy cow-it looks great.
I love a project. It’s off to a great start!
Lucky you, Elizabeth!! A fabulous husband and kitchen – life is good!
I love it! I really opens up the space. What a great surprise!
wow! what a great surprise, love how it opens everything up!
YAYAYAY! It looks sooooo good!!!!!
Boy…that really opened up the room! I remember when we were renovating our house and the kitchen designer had added a row of cabinets between the dining area and the kitchen. I am so glad I thought he was stupid and didn’t do it! Can’t wait to see everything else you do.
Oh it looks so much better! I love the backsplash too. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
