Tell Me Tuesday…BAM or SLAM!

Big Ol’ BAM for the Tulip Table!!

We only had one SLAM last week, can you believe it?

A few weeks ago I was browsing through House & Home magazine and ran across an article on the color mustard.  Obviously I love the color mustard, so I immediately stopped to read the article.  I don’t remember the whole article now, but the kitchen that was featured has been on my mind ever since.  Did you see it?  If you missed it, here it is…

I thought it was an interesting color for kitchen cabinets.  Last night I was browsing through this month’s  Veranda and the same color popped up in the kitchen again.  Do you think it’s a new trend?

I found a couple more examples, I don’t have dates on when these photos were published, but I wanted to give you enough inspiration to decide if you like the idea.

Mustard in the kitchen…are you a fan?

  1. BAM! Did you ever see the article that suggested yellow houses sell more often than any other color? Something about….feeling “happier” and “sunnier”…now you have a new search ;-)

  2. I painted my walls a mustard yellowish color and am tired of them after four years (and I LOVED them)! Although I think the cabinets are beautiful it’s an expensive commitment if you change your mind often. :) SLAM!

  3. SLAM for me. I agree with Pam, it’s a commitment issue! Pretty color but not on cabinets.

  4. bam for me! i love it in smaller doses for a nice warm pop!

  5. Bam! I love color and mustard is a classic.

  6. Slam. Too trendy for this traditional girl

  7. BAM! In the right space!

  8. SLAM… we are currently painting over the mustard trim that covers every square inch of our 3,000 sq foot home. It is AWFUL (I would assume the right mustard paint is hard to pick) and I never want to see it again! The former owner obviously chose the WRONG mustard. However, I think an accent of mustard here or there in fabric is beautiful, but in paint? No way.

  9. BAM for me!! I love mustard, the color and the condiment in tons of applications! It does have the be the right mustard though, I prefer a dusty gray tone to it. But mega BAM for me, I just wish the color looked better on me, I want a mustard pea coat!

  10. SLAM . I love the color mustard..just not on kitchen cabinets.. unless your kitchen is extremely fabulous (like the ones in this post).

  11. SLAM! I think I would get tired of it way too quickly. Mustard accents I can dig but painted cabinets I can not.

  12. BAM!
I love painted cabinets of all kinds of colors!
But like anything–it has to be the right application and situation or—OOOPS! It’s a S-l-a-m–!

  13. It looks nice in a mag but I’d have to agree with some of the others–I’m sure I’d get sick of it quickly. You’re really limited in the decorating dept. plus it just reads really country to me. I’d stick with classic white cabs and maybe bring in the mustard with accessories. mustard cabinets–in the slammer for me.

  14. I really like it. However, I’d only do it if I could afford to hire someone to paint my cabinets when I got tired of them. I recently painted my cabinets a cream color. it was too much work for me to even think about redoing them for a long, long time! I’d get worried that I’d be tired of it within a few years. If I had an island, I’d possibly try it.

  15. I’m going to have to say SLAM. I love the color mustard, but I’m afraid I would get tired of it in such a large dose. Like they say, keep your furniture neutral and you can always change up your style without having to make a big investment!

  16. I’ll give them a BAM. I don’t think I would tire of them but you never know. I do see a few beautiful hoods that I could get used to as well.

  17. It looks BAM in that first pic with that sexy black and brass range. But for me, it’s a SLAM. I’d get tired of it quickly – I’d rather put the mustard on the walls – they’re a lot easier to paint when mustard just doesn’t do it for you anymore.

  18. I’ll give it a BAM if done right… like the first kitchen. Those brighter yellow tones are a SLAM for me!

  19. Bam for us. Martha Stewart makes a great kitchen cabinet in this color. It is warm and inviting. Have a great Holiday.
